Discovery+ is off to a Strong Start

In December 2020, Discovery, Inc. (DISCA) officially entered the ‘Streaming Wars’ with a subscription-based OTT streaming service, dubbed Discovery+. Derivative naming conventions aside, the soaring levels of consumer buzz shows that Discovery has a winner on its hands. A 30-day moving average of Mentions highlights a strong rate of adoption: trending +589% higher than the prior quarter. Unfortunately, the market is already aware of the recent success -- Shares of DISCA are trading +145% higher YTD.
