Dating App Usage continues to Rise, despite the Pandemic’s End
The end of the pandemic was supposed to bring people to leave the confines of their homes and get out into the world.
Not only are people physically getting out of their homes, but they're also getting back out there when it comes to dating, too.
Outdoor recreation trends such as going to a restaurant or playing golf have jumped QoQ, but so has dating app usage.
Dating app usage has increased +15% QoQ and +70% YoY, adding to its steady rise over the last few years.
So when it comes to Match Group, or Bumble, which one is performing better?

Bumble, which has the Bumble, Badoo, and Fruitz apps under its banner, has an edge over Match Group, which owns has various brands including Hinge, Match.com, Tinder, and OkCupid.
However, the data hasn’t made us sit up and take notice as of yet.
Yes, Bumble is outperforming Match when it comes to Consumer Demand and Happiness, but the metrics don’t exactly scream buy.
Bumble’s Happiness Score is 62% which is good, not great, while its Overall Mentions are at +8% QoQ and -9% YoY…again, not the best.
For reference, Match’s Happiness Score is 58%, while its Overall Mentions are at +16% QoQ and -3% YoY.
So while dating app usage continues to rise, we will be sitting on the sidelines…
Or, to quote the UK show Love Island, “they’re just not my type on paper”… yet.
